Providing accessible and inclusive community space

Part of the Univeristy of Oxford, Wycliffe Hall’s Victorian campus is the much-loved home of an Anglican theological college. Whilst its 1877 design met the needs of its first all-male fellowship, today its labyrinthine circulation needs updating to meet modern access requirements.

Nick Cox Architects were commissioned to develop a new phase in the life of the college, designing inclusive, accessible spaces for the community. This includes refurbishing the student accommodation and upgrading services.

Connecting the building to the landscape

Two new statement pieces of architecture offer a welcoming main entrance and a light-filled dining hall with views to the wider landscape. These will be accompanied by stitched in careful interventions to the existing building, connecting floors and improving access.

The project received Full Planning and Listed Building Consent in 2024.
